At the beginning of 2009 the Czech Republic is going to chair the EU. Already in this moment the institutions as well as the politicians are preparing themselves for that important half year. Region of the western Balkan already represents one of the priorities of Czech foreign policy. The post of presidency will thus allow Czech foreign policy to influence European policy towards the western Balkan.
What will be the priorities and how will the Czech presidency influence the policy of the EU towards the western Balkan? What is the current situation of preparations of Serbia to join the EU and what does Serbia expect from the Czech presidency?
These were one of the topics discussed by
H.E. Jan Kohout, Czech ambassador to the EU
and
Dr. Tanja Miščević, director of the EU Integration Office.
The workshop took place on May 17, 2007 at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Belgrade, bul. kralja Aleksandra 22.
